During the month of October, Wantz Chevrolet teamed up with The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life to help promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Wantz Chevrolet and the R.U.M. Runners, a Relay For Life team from Hanover Pennsylvania, joined forces to celebrate and remember breast cancer survivors. Their “Sign for the Cure” pink car hood contained over 80 signatures by the end of October. (The R.U.M. Runners will continue to gather signatures at their upcoming fundraisers until Hanover’s Relay For Life in July 2011.) Also during the month, they had a “Color for the Cure” children’s racecar coloring contest. This contest was open to children ages 2-12 years and prizes were given in each age group. Jennifer Staub an employee of Wantz Chevrolet and R.U.M. Runner team member said, “We thought that a partnership with Wantz Chevrolet was a great fit for our team name since the R.U.M. in our name stands for Racing United for Miracles.”
On October 16, R.U.M. Runners also participated in the Community Day Event at Wantz Chevrolet. At their stand they had mini carnival games for the children to play and a variety of pink ribbon and cancer related merchandise. Both Wantz Chevrolet and the R.U.M. Runners will continue their joint effort to raise funds and cancer awareness in the surrounding communities.
